Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All easiily rock hop-able I feel blessed to have done many notoriously wet trails this summer that have ended up being dry as they'll ever get!
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: One big dead spruce lying full length down the trail on Wildcat River Trail just above the intersection of Bog Brook Trail. Herd path around is getting well defined. No other blowdowns. Wildcat River Trail is the most well blazed trail around. Trails will never be in this good a condition so get out there folks.

Comments
Comments: Nice trails and after reading trail descriptions I was most pleasantly surprised by easy water crossings and well defined footbed, good blazes, clear trails and old bog bridges still hanging in there in decent shape. Fun in Carter Notch; stopped by hut to get some water and met another hiker, Lynn who was on her way solo to finish her 48! Congrats Lynn. I am sure you had a lovely afternoon. Checked out the bunk houses and then went down to the lakes--water is low. Met a man filtering water and told him there was a facet with potable water at the hut he could use and he was quite pleased (the lake water didn't look nice to drink)The field of boulders, The Rampart, is a cool place right behind the hut, signed spur trail is near beginning of Wild River Trail. Also it looks like people might just whack from the second lake next to the hut to the jagged large boulder field. Wild cranberries and rugged sharp broken boulders litter the floor below Carter Dome. Lots of cool caves and bouldering to do here. Nicer place to eat lunch than by the lake. This is cool like the Subway at King Ravine but not blazed and it is high up with big vista to the south. Glad I have been going to the rock gym it is tricky to get across the crazy rocks. Lucky me another fun day of new to me trails.
