Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Wild River crossable without wading, if you search for the right spot. Or bring wading shoes and leave them after crossing the river, as the river crossing is at the beginning of the hike.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The treadway on both the Shelburne and Kenduskeag trails was obvious, however they both had lots of step-over and duck-under blowdowns. On the ascent we used 10 minutes of every hour cutting passages through recent brushy blowdowns. All clear now! Saw three faint ancient blazes the whole way. Lots of small limbs sticking into the trail.

Comments: Shelburne Trail (Southern), Kenduskeag Trail

Excellent trail to get away from the Labor Day crowds. In 9 hours we saw only 2 other parties. Great views. If this trail were in the southern Whites, it would be very popular.
