I was able to easily rock hop across all water crossings. The tops of the rocks are very dry, even the moss has dried out. Very safe IMO. |

Once you cross into the Wilderness, the footing on the Rocky Branch Trail and Isolation Trail becomes much harder, e.g. a lot more rocks, roots, standing water. All in all a really fun hike and as usual an awesome workout. There is plenty of water on the Isolation trail, not so much on Rocky Branch or Davis Path. Also I would recommend hiking in hiking boots, if you wear trail runners would might be miserable. Also hiking poles made the hike much more enjoyable, four legs instead of two essential for this hike due to the large number of rocks/roots. |
