Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parked at the Cog base station; there is a dedicated hiker parking lot with a sign (lower parking lot) - room for 20+ cars - apparently they aren't charging any more. Arrived at 11 AM and lot was full.

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Crossing on Amunoosuc easy rock hop; crossing of Ammonoosuc River on Jewel Spur was a challenge - fortunately crossing is right at the cog base - a reroute since the bridge washed out - at trail crossing no easy way across but since we were coming down we just waded across - speaking with those that headed up your best bet to get across with dry boots is upstream from the trail crossing.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: one duckunder and one stepover on the Jewell Trail
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Long stretches on rock may be tough for some canines; ran across one canine on gulfside above clay that was just exhausted and hesitant to move; directed the group to the cog figuring it might be a little easier getting up
Bugs
Bugs: Didn't seem to be out today

Comments
Comments: An exciting day above treeline; saw the full range of weather today - summit in the clouds, in the clear, overcast skies and undercast but great views and plenty sun throughout the day. Trail all in great shape - fair amount of traffice on Ammonosuc Ravine and Crawford heading up to the summit; summit usual busy place given the great weather, only ran across 2 groups heading down on the northern side. Heading down Jewell below treeline ran across a women who had injured her knee - her daughter another gentleman and I helped her down to the cog base - slow going got us out after 11 PM but kudos to Fran for toughing it out. Just another story showing the importance of being prepared including having a flashlight or headlamp.
