Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Numerous river crossings along the route. Many are bridged on Zealand Trail. Four that weren't were all very low and easily crossed with dry feet. One crossing on Twinway at beginning near hut could be problematic in higher water but was very easy today. Second smaller crossing shortly thereafter was only a trickle.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails in very good shape. Lot of structures (bridges, bog bridges, water dams, etc) all in very good condition. There was one easy step over on Zealand Spur that looks to have been there awhile. Non issue.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: These routes are all fine for dogs. There isn't any water once you leave crossing at beginning of Twinway though. Saw several dogs, all with backpacks.
Bugs
Bugs: No biting bugs but there were tons of flies everywhere, especially earlier sections of Twinway. Were places where the buzzing was downright loud.

Comments
Comments: Trails for the most part in very good shape and fairly dry. The early sections of Zealand Trail (the root and rock section before trail becomes a gravel path), the 1.5 miles or so on Twinway from hut to Zeacliff outlook and the col between Zealand and Guyot had a lot of wet areas, some standing water and various degrees of mud that were generally not too big of a deal to negotiate.

No shortage of people out there today. Lot of foot traffic in every direction.
