Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All were easy today. I opted to rock hop the Dry River rather than use the suspension bridge since the water was low enough. Isolation Brook has done alot of damage to a couple of sections of the Isolation Tr requiring a couple of muddy side hills and a few blowdowns to navagate. It's crossings near the Dry River Tr junction were easily rock hopped. The crossing of the Dry River at the start of the Mt Clinton Tr was marked with at least three good sized cairns along the river bed.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Davis Path was in good shape but could use some brushing in spots between Stairs Mtn and Mt Isolation. Isolation West had a few blowdowns and tight spots the worst being lower and closer to the brook. There are some slippery side hills and trees that have slid down the bank to crawl under. Some sections were washed out but the trail skirts them and follows the brook all the way down. Dry River Tr has numerous reroutes both old and new. Some are very muddy and one drops down to the river bed marked by two cairns.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: There was nothing an experienced trail dog can't handle. Not alot of water Long Davis Path so I brought a quart for Marlie.
Bugs
Bugs: Some mosquitoes at the start of Davis Path but nothing else bothersome throughout the day.

Comments
Comments: It was a fun day in the Dry River Wilderness redlining, peak bagging, and exploring a new corner of the White Mountains. I parked at the Dry River Tr and headed up to the Dry River Connector, following it to Dry River Campground then walking the road to the Davis Path. It's times like these I wish I was a runner. I met only seven others on the trail and saw two more camped on the ledges below Mt Crawford. Great day out with a dog that loves to walk.
