Met the volunteer Tecumseh Trail maintainer working late on new steps during my hike up; he was using only a crow bar and shovel, no come-along winch. These steps are the future for any heavily used trail in the Whites; alternatives are deep erosion gullies. Just got back from hiking Mount Fuji where steps have been built for most routes, albeit too late to mitigate the erosion gullies already formed (think KRT from Cannon ski area). |

Back in the day, we hiked under the lift lines in the spring to find lots of cash and more (dialing for dollars). But, nothing found today on my way down the haul roads. |

Tecumseh Trail up; Sosman and WV ski area haul roads down
I forgot what a fine trail Sosman is. Also, Tom Ryan needs to revisit Tecumseh so that he can correct the misinformation in his weekly columns that there are not any views from this peak. Completed August for my calendar date list. :-) |
