this was a solo redlining trip for me and it was a really great trip. with redlining, i try not to retrace trails, so loops are always good. my original plan was to go up Greenleaf and down Skookumchuck, but i figured i would get that long paved path done early vs. the end of the day when i would have to watch out for bikes. left the car at 7:30, crossed paths with a Quebecan photographer who laughed when i told him i was redlining. did not see a single soul on Skookumchuck, which is a very nice trail, but once on the ridge, there were lots of folks. no views on top due to mist/fog and cool wind. lots of hikers coming up from the hut, but after that I had Greenleaf trail to myself. loved climbing up on to the boulders just below the slide. great view of the notch.
made it back to Woodstock to replenish my fluids and raised a birthday toast to MJB. missed you out on the trails today. |
