South Twin, Guyot, Bonds attempt
We had it in mind to get to Guyot campsite the first day(wed) but were wiped out by the time we hit the Twinway. It was my first backpacking trip and i wasn't so well prepared for a heavy pack. We camped off the Twinway and after 11 hours! sleep headed out thurs AM. It was cold, misty and cloudy but i was hoping to drop my pack at the guyot campsite and hit the Bonds. What we hit was a wind tunnel cominig over Guyot. Seriously, it blew me over literally at one point. We retreated to below treeline while i considered our options and Sasha hunkered down in the scrub. We retreated back to Galehead hut, caught some delicious rays of sun and soup and headed back down the gale river trail. We will attack the Bonds another day. I just read. Becca and Prema's trip report and am happy we turned back. |
