Parking/Access Road Notes

Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: walked down to Ellis River before going up Wildcat Ridge Tr.--water level did not seem particularly high, but probably NOT rock-hoppable (I didn't attempt it!)
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Lost Pond trail a bit hard to follow in one or two spots. The "right turn" blaze on the lowest ledge on Wildcat Ridge Tr. is almost worn away and hikers descending at that point might be momentarily confused as to which way to go, could be a hazard under poor light conditions
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: none
Bugs

Comments
Comments: Polecat is better for walking than most ski trails, but although a "novice" level ski trail it is still steep in spots, with a lot of loose rocks and stones that make walking treacherous--I slipped and fell twice after going up the often rough Wildcat Ridge ascent without a scratch
