Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Plenty at both Sabbaday and Pine Bend. But it looked like a busy day by how far they were parked down the road.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant, Leaves - Significant/Slippery
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Water crossings are a little high. Lots with only submerged rocks to step on. I used water shoes for most and was in past my knees. I landed myself in one of the last ones stepping on a wet roots and slipping. Such as life.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Lots of mud that might need some rerouting on the lower Pine Bend. A few blow downs that seem to be old. I just have not seen them since the snow was flying. All in all, pretty good trails.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Isis had a fantastic challenge a head of her today. Fair waring, this hike was not without incident and most were from owners not being is eye shot of their dogs. When Isis is eating, she's not going to care if your dog is friendly. This is her food and I am her person. She's going to bark... And protect. I did not appreciate the bits trying to protect your dog. Keep your dog in control by voice or sight. And when you see someone coming down a tricky rock section with a dog, make some room until she is clear. Don't just sit there with the dog in the middle of the section. And when your dog slips down the rocks and looks terrified, please consider ability before taking him on the trail.
Bugs
Bugs: Yes... I had bug spray. Several times and they were at bay.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: NA

Comments
Comments: Sabbaday as I mentioned starts easy... Pretty cascades and then you work it. 7 (?) water crossings... All high and will be higher after rain comes tonight and tomorrow. It's a gradual trail before it gets to more crossings and then it gets steep. You really earn the ridge here. The ridge over to Middle is great and then doubling back to North was fine too. We made great time after all. Going down Pine Bend was tedious complicated by crowds. Take care and remember trail etiquette. Lower Pine Bend is full of mud and could use some rerouting instead of creating more erosion.

Toady was my first day hiking with a full pack for my Long Trail trip and what a challenge I chose. I couldn't be more ready!
