Trails: Garfield Trail, Garfield Ridge Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Friday, June 26, 2015
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: plenty of parking at the Garfield Trailhead off of Gale River Loop Rd. Just be sure you're at the correct trailhead as the Gale River Tr. also starts off of this rd.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: one complicated water crossing early on at the intersection of a few separate streams. Water wasn't too high, I was able to slosh through with my Bean Crestas. This area is fairly well blazed, just had to do a little looking around to find the trail. Couple more hop-over type streams on the way up, nothing significant.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: several blow downs. I'd say maybe 5 or 6, all of which you could either duck under or walk around without having to leave the trail. Other than that the trail is in great shape, I really enjoyed hiking this trail.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: saw one medium size dog up top and another smaller (pug sized) one heading up when I was descending.
Bugs
Bugs: flies were real bitey at the top, even with the wind. Deet took care of it.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: nothing to report.

Comments
Comments: Excellent hike. Trail was easy-moderate all the way to the cap of the summit where you had to do a couple minutes of rock scrambles. Beautiful forest. All around, 10/10 would hike again.
