Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Plenty of water crossings to make; water seemed at normal levels. Water crossings vary: some have obvious rock placements for an easier cross, while others seem to have no particularly dry way of crossing. Bring extra socks! Be wary when you reach the water crossing on the Cedar Brook; there will be a sharp bend in the brook, followed by a small beach with a shallow crossing. Once across, you will find the trail completely submerged for quite some distance. A hiker and I managed to find our way across and to the trail further up from this, but I do not recommend doing the same.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Some sections of the trail were heavily damaged; a few felled trees across the path, but nothing major.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw one canine friend enjoying the beautiful weather once I reached the North Peak.
Bugs
Bugs: Annoying as they always are, but not terrible. The breeze at the North Peak seemed to keep them away.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Lost my lucky yellow bandanna, I hope whoever finds it enjoys the same luck it brought me

Comments
Comments: Wonderful hike in wonderful weather. I think the most important thing to understand about hiking the Hancocks is that the hike TO the mountain is not necessarily a reflection of the hike UP it. Sure, Hancock Notch and Cedar Brook Trails have numerous annoying water crossings and some damage here and there, but they are not difficult trails. But upon looking straight up at the North Peak, while standing in the brook at the mountain's base, you realize that all good things must come to an end, as you begin your slow ascent straight up the side of Hancock. Don't underestimate the ascent; enjoy the easier stroll through the Notch and prepare for the moderate challenge ahead of you.
