Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Lots of small crossings at the beginning, easy to step over and one bridged. Cascade over the path just below treeline, be careful not to slip.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A few blow downs near the beginning.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Watch your dogs on the upper section of Edmands. Make sure you have enough water for the Crawford Path. Obedient ones only when you get to where EVERYONE needs to watch where they step. Lots of good canine citizens out and about yesterday.
Bugs
Bugs: Extremely windy for most of the day, so they couldn't land. Late afternoon, while the winds had died down above treeline and were almost non-existent below, the blackflies came back. The good side of bugs - we saw a beautiful huge green moth near Monroe.

Comments
Comments: You can read Brian from Maine's report just below about Eisenhower. So much great detail, nothing for me to add. We started very early, this was a crazy plan for me to see all the Alpine flowers. The original idea was to see the area near Monroe, and then take the Tuckerman crossover and eventually go to the Alpine Garden. That was just too much for one day, so we went as far as the hut. The Crawford Path was great. It was cloudy and cold when we first emerged from the woods, but it cleared and was a perfect day above tree line. There are scattered white flowers between Eisenhower and Monroe. Monroe has a greater variety, the Crawford Path has the most. Go over the summit for the joy of climbing or because it's on the list, but take the Crawford path along the side of Monroe for the flowers. There is still snow here and there. Do not expect to make book time here, it's just too beautiful to rush through.
