Black flies were biting along the stretch from Huntington Ravine to Nelson Crag, not much of a breeze to keep them at bay. Beware the cairn at the Nelson Crag peak, there is a hornets nest in the cairn and they were quite aggressive even though we kept our distance and moved on quickly. |

| Comments: |
It was a beautiful day on the mountain with warm temperatures, very light wind and great visibility. The Alpine Garden was a nice diversion from the traffic on Lion Head. Nelson Crag was enjoyable above treeline, but below treeline was steep, wet, muddy and long. This trail would be as challenging on the ascent as it was on the descent. Old Jackson Road was a delightful reprieve to tired legs after the long trip down Nelson Crag. |
