Comments
Comments: Traverse of the Tecumseh ridgeline from Tripoli Road to Orris Road below Welch-Dickey, RGoH, group of 12. We bushed from the top of the ski area southerly to a nice open talus slope below the ski area, continued to the Tecumseh-Green Col, then up to Green where we picked up the very apparent unofficial trail from Green over to Foss and on to the N peak of Dickey, then over Dickey, Welsh & out via the usual trails. Moderate to very dense stick timber between the ski area and col; we did not find any apparent route but may have missed something more westerly when we opted to see the talus slope on the way down. From the col south, the woods are more open and easier to walk through. there, we found traces of herd path crossed with moose crashings. We found a piece of weathered flagging at one point. Nothing consistent enough to follow, though. Unofficial trail from Green to Dickey is marked with cairns and stone leaders and is well beaten with two tricky turns near the apparent rock basin bog S of Foss and just north of N. Dickey in the woods at a blowdown snag. (Surprisingly, we bumped into a group of 3 on Green who were also doing the bushwhack S to N. What are the odds?) Excellent views from the talus slope below the ski area, and from Foss most of the way to Dickey. A nice directional view of Tecumseh from the summit of Green. Green has a canister and sign. The sign at Foss is missing. The rock basin bog south of Foss was the only water along the ridge.
