The gate was open and the lot was accessible. There were two cars there when we got there and about 25 the small lot was full, there were cars in the road, and the lot at Unknown Pond Trail was full) when we got back. |

The one real crossing on York Pond Trail was easy to cross by stepping on the rocks. |

 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
There were several easy-to-pass blowdowns on the Bunnell Notch Trail. Would be easy to take care of using an ax or big saw (bigger than the folding one I carry). |

Saw some dogs and they seemed to be doing OK. |

Monica and I did this one with the Randok Group of Hikers. There were five of us, and with the exception of the four coming down from an overnight at the cabin, we had the trail to ourselves. The trails were dry down bottom while the flat sections up higher were muddy. Only one spot where there was any remaining monorail - about 30 yards long and easy to get by. There were a couple more at the cabin. Both the big Cabot sign (not at the summit) and the little Cabot sign (at the actual summit) are missing - in its place is a sad little four-rock cairn. On the way down we passed 20-30 people - some heading up to just summit Cabot while others were doing the clockwise loop. After the hike we grabbed some lunch and then some of us headed over to climb Waumbek. |
