| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Good shape. I was especially pleased to see the southern end of the Sosman Trail in great shape, though the corridor could be cut higher for the benefit of winter hikers/skiers.
The primary trail sign at the summit is getting faint -- still completely legible, but hard to get a good pic ;) Though by no means being being maintained for hikers, the ski trails were firm (areas of wetness easily avoidable) and the vegetation nice and low. |

Some non-biting black flies in the parking lot. Encountered nothing on the mountain. |

Did a complete figure 8 circuit: Mt. Techumseh Trail from the resort lot, out onto the northernmost ski trail route up from the viewpoint at 2600' (Periphery, Tangent, Ruthie's Run), Sosman to the summit, Mt. Techumseh Trail down to the viewpoint, Barnyard and Lower Periphery down to the kid center and car.
Late afternoon hike. It was a bit humid and not as cool as I'd like, but was still wonderful early summer-ish weather with plenty of breeze, and frequent cloud relief from direct sun.
I encountered several exiting parties during my first on-trail segment, then a group descending via the slopes, then no one else for the balance of the hike. |
