The trail is in decent shape. Some minor areas of mud, but no big deal. As you get higher there are some snow patches, most are easy to walk around & a few you have to walk on, but we had no problem. The problem comes at the junction of Garfield Ridge Trail for the .02 steep part. It starts out as just rocks but quickly becomes snow & ice covered. We barebooted for a short stretch, then put on the microspikes and were really glad we had them. The bareboot people didn't have an easy time of it. I saw one lady fall coming down. We would still advise carting the spikes with you, even though it's a little extra weight for only that short section. Really cold & windy up top. Needed winter gear. Some people going up looked totally unprepared to deal with the conditions. |
