Comments
Comments: Trail up to Bald Knob spur fairly dry, wet rocks and the occasional stream in the trail start on the steeper sections heading to the ridge. Only a few tiny negligible patches of snow/ice starting about a quarter mile before the junction. Patchy monorail after the junction on KRT but much more rocks/roots and wet trail than snow/ice, bit less monorail between North Kinsman and the col, then more consistent with a few 50-100 foot stretches between the col and South Kinsman, deepest snow probably 2-2 1/2 feet - for the most part it was avoidable and for the stretches it wasn't it was stable with snow and no postholing if you stay in the middle - cloud cover today kept it from becoming slushy and unstable. I brought my rock micros but never considered putting them on since it would have been a lot of on/off for no more than a half mile or so, still may take them for the next few hikes though just in case since other parts of the Whites may have more remaining monorail. Muggy and mostly cloudy with no views up high but a summer pack felt good and we didn't see a soul all day (and didn't get rained on). Great day in the woods with Hannah!
