Brook crossings were easy. Low water. Whitewall Brook crossing above hut was on a ledge slightly under water. |

 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Three trees across Zealand trail were easy to get by. Two trees across Twinway just uphill from Zeacliff Pond spur. Also two other trees across trail nearer to Zealand Mountain. |

House flies. No black flies or mosquitoes. |

 | Comments: |
No snow until just below Zeacliff. Snow easy to get around all the way to Zeacliff Pond junction. Thereafter there was stretches of trail with snow up to four feet in depth interspersed with bare trail usually with water or mud. Snowshoes not suitable for the uneven snow surfaces. Microspikes of little use with mushy snow surfaces. Gaiters and waterproof boots were the best for today's conditions on Zealand Ridge. The Zealand Spur trail was mostly snow free. Potential for falling through the weak snow in to the underlying running water. Bog bridge locations not always evident.
Great views from Zeacliff and the open ledges on Zealand Ridge. Good water flow over Zealand Falls as compared to the summer trickle. No bug problems around Zealand Pond and wetland areas. Painted Trillium, Red Trillium, Shadbush, and Hobblebush in bloom. |
