||Mt. Madison, Mt. Adams, NH|
||Valley Way, Osgood Trail, Gulfside, Lowe's Path|
|Date of Hike:
||Friday, May 15, 2015|
|Parking/Access Road Notes:
||Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Unstable) |
||Light Traction |
|Water Crossing Notes:
||No issues |
|Trail Maintenance Notes:
||4 blowdowns on Valley Way - 3 minor and one big (must be fairly new). All are easily passable. |
||1/2 a mile of snow-covered trail is tricky. Cinnilla handled it well but did not like it.
Plenty of water in the stream near Madison Hut. |
|Lost and Found:
||Found: 2 gloves - one halfway up Valley Way and the other near the Gulfside-Airline Jct. ||
||Left snowshoes in the car and it was a good decision. |
Snow coverage intermittent from a few hundred yards before the tent-site on Valley Way and up to the hut. It is a tedious section with unstable mono-rail. I barebooted up and used micropspikes on the way down.
Some muddy sections and some water on the trail - but all minor stuff.
