Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Five crossings on Isolation/Rocky Branch - Water level was up but all five rock were hoppable with some care - some rocks an inch or two under water so boots will get wet. First Crossing (before Rocky Branch/Isolation junction) most difficult but a good spot to cross 30 yards or so upstream from trail crossing. Did talk to a few people who bushwacked along rocky branch to avoid first four crossings. Water crossings on other trails negligible
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Glen Boulder clear all the way to Davis path junction. On all others there were a number of blowdowns some look new from storm earlier in the week though nearly all easily stepped over. One on Isolation that has a path developing around, another cluster on Isolation can get over but slow you down a bit. The crews did a great job clearing out the two large blowdown patches on the Davis Path above Isolation. The size of the two patches was increadible! Bog bridges on Davis Path in a sad state, many are in need of replacement especially between Isolation junction and Isolation spur
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Glen Boulder trail may pose a challenge - a couple of spots where you will need to lift up some rock scrambles
Bugs
Bugs: Above treeline a good wind kept them away. On all trails below treeline there were out in force. DEET is recommended

Comments
Comments: Based on comments on the various forums I took the Glen Boulder trail up and Davis path down to Isolation. This is definitely the way to approach Isolation even given the extra elevation gain. Glen Boulder trail completely clear and all rocks were dry. Davis path above treeline also dry. Mud and running water on Davis path began below treelin but not too bad prior to isolation junction. Davis Path fron junction to Isolation spur is just mud and water - it was hard to find a dry spot on the trail but you can get through if you watch your step and don't mind really muddy boots. Took Isolation/Rocky Brnch down - Isolation - where the trail wasn't basically a stream it was again muddy, quite deep in places. The only dry stretches were right at the top and the short stretch between the first and second crossings (from trailhead) on Rocky Branch. Rocky Branch trail also a stream in places and/or muddy from the Rocky Branch crossing to just over the height of land on Engine Hill. Some mud/running water heading down from height of land to trailhead but the first 1.5 miles or so from the start of the trailhead in the parking lot were dry. Lots of people on the trail today, most came up rocky branch but several went up Glen Boulder and met two that went up Boot Spur. Incredible views up along Glen Boulder trail and what I think is the best view of Washington from Isolation.
