Thanks Bryan for your excellent recent report! The bushwhack was easy but scrappy in the new hardwoods. I popped out at the very flat actual summit area of Monroe Hill at a boat on the edge of a really small pond. I could see this hilltop was someone's house/yard, so, I walked around and tagged a tall rock near the driveway and then scurried off on a logging road.
Later, I looped around the nature trails and the swamp area. I only counted one black gum tree, but, it was pretty neat and there was info about the swamp on a signboard. Lots of opportunities for trail running there today - fun! (I also visited the "firetower" but views were hazy). Excellent birthday hike!!!! :) |
