Parking/Access Road Notes: One of the better lots for a 4K trailhead.

Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Snowshoes
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Crossing of Avalanche Brook right at start of Mt. Tripyramid Tr. done slightly downstream on top of 3" branch using a larger blowdown for hand balance. Thanks Jeb for advise in 5-3 report. Next two crossings were a little difficult with poles very helpful for balance on submerged rocks. I believe I went a little upstream and used another log for balance aide on the crossing you drop down for.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Many blowdowns throughout; I removed many smaller ones. Many still bedded into the snow/ice pack.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Agree with 5-3 report this would be a tough route for most dogs. Lots of moose droppings on south slide approach.
Bugs
Bugs: Getting closer

Comments
Comments: Up South Slide-down Scaur Ridge Tr.. Difficult day. Barebooted up to near South Tripyramid; then snowshoes until almost down Scaur Ridge. Livermore Tr. and lower ends of loop were dry. Some annoying snow on the slide (shaded areas) to be dealt with. From top of slide until half way down Scaur Ridge Tr.; required much focus to stay on trail. Previous tracks had melted out and only deeper holes visible. Monorail evident in spots but non-existent in other areas. I lost trail between South and Middle and ended up bushwhacking through very thick growth and came out at Middle. Went right of actual trail at some point and apologize to anyone who follows my tracks. Jct. with Scaur Ridge Tr. obvious but top part was a challenge following and not used enough for good pack so snowshoe post holing was the norm. Glad to have some track to follow from earlier hike. More beautiful weather and views.
