Comments
Comments: Up to 2,600 to 2,700 foot elevation it is either dry trail, mud, or running water on the path. Bare boots are fine. Above this elevation it is mainly snow with water running beneath the snow in places. There are short stretches of open rocks with running water. Some stretches are pretty beat up with lots of postholes. The monorail was still mostly solid and resisted postholing especially if snowshoes are worn. All of the rocks are covered by the snow pack on the Garfield Ridge Trail. The summit ledges are bare. The snow is weakening in the warm temperatures. Some hikers had fallen through to the running water below the snow.
No wildflowers in bloom yet. Saw Trout Lily leaves.
Great views from the summit. Heard and saw a helicopter in the morning. Sounded like it was making runs to the Galehead Hut.
