Comments
Comments: An epic tour on the heights with Jake, Nate, and Mike. Walked up the Cog for about the first 250' vert, then skinned from there to the summit sign on Washington. Foggy on the summit, but with light winds and warm temps, we occupied the place for a while. Skiing from the top, we worked our way down the Auto Road to the top of the East Snowfields, where we waited for the fog to lift. Impatient, our first run was somewhat vertigo inducing, making turns but not being able to see much in front of you! Just above the Alpine Garden was the cloud deck, so we climbed up for another run, the clouds following us. The second run was in the clear, as we angled toward the top of Tuckerman, where we donned skins and set off for Oakes Gulf. Dropping into Airplane Bowl, the first few turns were fantastic, then turned gloppy and rugged. We booted out of Twister Gully, then skinned over toward Monroe. Mike and I skinned up the snowfields direct to the summit of Monroe, while Jake and Nate skinned around the cone, meeting us atop Monroe Brook. Great descent down Monroe Brook and ART, with only a short portage required to get us within 100 feet of the car. What a first day of May it was!
