Comments
Comments: Planned on going into the Great Gulf, but was tempted by a sight from the road... and another NH48 on skis. Skis on packs we hiked up about a mile on Edmands until we reached consistent snow, then skinned the rest of the way to the Eisenhower Loop. A bit bony up high, but we were able to bareboot to the summit with no trouble. Light winds and good views below about 5700'. Down-climbed to the top of the prominent gully that funnels into Mt. Pleasant Brook, and dropped in. Heavy snow made turns difficult, but once we got the hang of it, the narrow sometimes brushy gully provided a fun descent. Reaching open water on the brook bed (after ~1200' of vert), we whacked back to Edmands Path in predominantly thick conifers. Bushwhacking on skis isn't as fun as it might sound. Did a lot of the Snowplow of Doom down Edmands Path until the snow ran out. Rain started just before the car. A great day adventuring with Anya!
