Comments
Comments: Felt like a typical winter day in the Whites today. Not super cold, but very windy on the summits. There is still about 5-6 feet of snow on the trails, so I wouldn't say we are in monorail season yet.

Lonesome Lake Trial is a superhighway as usual, but Fishin' Jimmy looked like only one group had broken out the trail to Kinsman Ridge from the hut. Fishin' Jimmy was in bad shape ascending due to postholes everywhere. I opted for snowshoes which was adequate (and the televators worked wonders on the steep sections). Kinsman Ridge was well broken out and fairly easy to follow.

We didn't get good views until we hit South Kinsman, where the clouds finally got swept away. We had a beautiful descent with views all over. By the time we got back to Fishin' Jimmy, a couple of groups, including a large Boy Scout troop had mostly broken out the trail into a highway, so coming back down to the hut was no problem.

Great day for a hike and glad the sun was still out at 7pm!
