It was a nice day on the trail. Weather was very windy and overcast. The trail was a little crusty all the way up but softened up on the descent. I used microspikes for the most part except for the ascent to the north peak, where I switched to snow shoes for the heel elevator. I bare booted along half the ridge but switched back to snow shoes until the descent, where I switched back to microspikes. No real issues with post holing unless I wasn't paying attentionIt was a little sticky and soft for the last couple miles. I ended up catching up to another hiker and we finished the trail together. Great first hike of the year |
