Comments
Comments: Hard packed conditions the whole way, I was one of only a few in snowshoes. It appeared that if you stuck to the center of the tread way, light traction was fine, but I doubt that will last with the coming warmup. Some larger rocks are poking through down low, but overhead branches are in your face up high due to the snow depth. Several ice bulges with some established bypasses on the steep sections on either side of Bugle Cliff. Some significant ice on the ledge below the summit as usual. Otherwise still surprisingly good conditions for this hike. Extremely windy at the summit, 45-55 mph gusts I'd guess based on how it was blowing me around (my wind gage annoyingly malfunctioned at the summit :( ) The cloud deck also covered the top couple hundred feet so no views and also no gray jays! Good to see a few familiar faces on the trail this afternoon.
