Comments
Comments: Perfect day to be above treeline. Clear blue skies all day. Winds were just 10-15 mph most of the afternoon. A little windy on Monroe, but it was calm on Eisenhower, which was a nice surprise. I wore snowshoes for the entire hike. There are some softer areas between Monroe and Pierce where it's better to have snowshoes, but the entire hike could probably be managed in crampons, also. Just a few small patches of ice between Monroe and Eisenhower, nothing that couldn't be managed in snowshoes or avoided. Good snowshoeing from Eisenhower to Pierce. Pierce to Clinton Rd is hard packed; microspikes would be sufficient here, and a good part of the descent is sleddable.
