Lost and Found
Lost and Found: within 0.5mi of trailhead found goggles and hat and since it was early in the morning, I figured the odds were high the owner of these items was ahead of me on the trail ascending and put them in my pack; luckily, I was correct; the person I met next on the trail had lost them approx. .25mi from the trail juncture on the ridge I found a frozen protein bar still in its wrapper--must have been dropped yesterday, as I was first person on the trail in that section this morning--thank you for whoever accidentally lost it yesterday--I will enjoy it on my next hike :)

Comments
Comments: I only had time for a short hike this weekend, so Moosilauke it was.

I snow-shoed up but bare booting would also work; most people were wearing spikes today; trail in good condition except for higher up on Glencliff trail when the trail/snow is not as consolidated and the sun was shining-->quite a few people post holed and found spruce traps

met a cross country skier on the summit who had ascended via Gorge Brook (?) from Dartmouth and was taken Carriage rd back down; we were lucky we still had sunny skies and views; when we left and I hiked back across the ridge, the clouds came in and when I turned around the summit was no longer visible

Passed 3 groups of hikers on my ascend; met all of them again on my descent plus some more who had started later in the morning; had a blast sledding down the trail (changed to spikes at the trail juncture to get ready to sled); only the post hole sections made sledding difficult; lower down the temps were cooler and the trail sturdy-->I sled (in sections) all the way to the trail juncture sign at the open field approx. 0.2mi from car; never expected that; lots of fun

great first spring hike of '15
