19 mile Brook trail packed solid hard. 19 people passed me by on their way down and all barebooted. I was excited to see that WRT was well packed too. I ditched my skis and put on snowshoes and headed up the steep trail. When I came to the deadend high up I called myself a dumba$#. I descended to the last white blaze I had last seen. I went back up, saw nothing, no more blazes? I repeated this task in vain. Desperate I knew the trail took a hard left but where. Again I returned to last blaze and decided to bushwhack straight up knowing and hoping I'd hit the trail. Just 100 feet of plowing thru deep snow, I hit the trail. No one has found it in quite some time and I pushed on to summit thru snow and deep drifts. How could so many fail to summit and pack that trail so far up off trail? On my return I can see why everyone missed turn trail not marked, big broken tree, duckable hiding trail, deep drifts and wrong way is very well packed. Snowshoers from other side of ridge left lots of fresh tracks before I arrived. Ski back down was fun.
