As has been reported for a couple weeks, it looks like everyone has been going straight up the gully towards Scaur Peak, then bushwhacking through very open woods back to Pine Bend Brook trail.
We chose to go with the pounded out trench on the uphill! It is open and has very nice views! Once up on top, we headed off to meet up with the trail, crossed over it an then came back quickly. Ended up right at the buried sign for Scaur Ridge Trail junction. Unburied the sign.
The rest of the way was relatively easy to follow. Congrats to Ali who finished her SSW48 on Middle Tri!
On the return trip, we broke out the Pine Bend Brook trail all the way down to the gully. Route-finding was a challenge in a couple spots before we got off the ridge and started downhill. That's an apology if you follow our footprints for 20 yards and then they turn around.
A fun adventure on a very nice, warm and sunny day! |
