Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Not much in terms of blowdowns and stepovers especially compared to other trails - plenty of face level brushers especially up high, got pretty snowed on from the few inches from yesterday. Small temporary signs for Hi-Cannon trail at Lonesome Lake trail and Dodge Cutoff at the junction with Hi-Cannon, both had some blown snow on them so pay attention if looking for either

Comments
Comments: Snowshoes car to car. A few inches of fresh snow on Lonesome Lake trail up to the lake, followed one set of boot prints but those tracks continued to the hut. Continued on Lonesome Lake trail to the ridge which had a visible trench but was unbroken, started as a few inches down low which increased to 4-6" in spots near the junction. A few 12"+ drifts on KRT to the summit, difficult to get traction on a few of the steeper pitches. VERY windy up top, summit tower stairs also very icy. Wanted to descend the same way but one steep icy pitch on KRT was sketchy coming up and would have been very dangerous on the way down so took Hi-Cannon - also unbroken, similar snow depths but a more unstable track underneath. Ladder mostly buried, I felt more comfortable descending it backwards. Rest of the hike was uneventful, saw the only two people all day about a half mile from the trailhead. Even though it was sunny and 55 yesterday at home, snowshoes will definitely still be needed up high for a while.
