| Comments: |
The old logging road bushwack a quarter of a mile south from The Basin parking lot has had a lot of travel, and was easily found, but a bit choppy. Liberty Spring trail had just one set of shallow postholes (4 inches or so) up to the tent/platform areas. A few deep postholes around Franconia Ridge Trail signs and just a few scattered ones over Liberty and in tree line to Flume. Most of trail from near top of Liberty Spring Trail to Flume and some drifting, only hiding the entire trail in places, otherwise easy to follow. A few spruce traps around. Liberty Spring Trail was smoothed out nicely on my descent, via Missile Sled. Wore micros from car to Franconia Ridge Trail, and snowshoes over Liberty to Flume and back to start of Liberty Spring Trail. Sled and micros on the return from there. The only choppy section was the bushwack, but it wasn't bad at all. An epic yet cold Monday up on the tops! |
