Comments
Comments: Solo Bonds OAB from Lincoln Woods. Skied in the flats to junc. Bondcliff Tr. and Black Brook. Broken out & hardpack to that point, then gradually becoming unstable underfoot (wear snowshoes). Snow in higher elevations is extremely deep with substantial drifting in places greater than 6'. From switchbacks starting last xing of Black Brook to Bondcliff & then Bond to West Bond budget some calories to play chicken with tree branches and your eyeballs the entire way. Bondcliff totally windswept, lots of bare rock and some negotiable ice. Briefly lost trail going up Bond at that tricky sharp right where trail enters trees. Found it with some poking around in spruce traps. Trail minimally broken from Boncliff to W. Bond. Ran into group of 3 (traverse?), group of 2 and 3 (Bondcliff), solo (Bondcliff) and one hearty soul who busted through from Zealand and was still smiling. Flurries all day, wind picking up, I expect parts of the trail to disappear very fast. Some postholes courtesy of last group up. Also noted BTW that Black Pond Trail was busted out well, assuming toward Owl. NOte: Skiing the flats is the way to go--all you folks choosing to walk it are bat**** crazy & masochistic. Zipped out the last 2.6 in less than 40 minutes. Nice (relatively) effortless glide.
