Needed Washington and Monroe or Eisenhower and Pierce for SS48. With fog and clouds descending over Washington when we arrived Eisenhower/Pierce seemed the logical choice especially knowing Cronin and Schorman party had broken earlier in the week and the same trail posted yesterday. Used spikes to the junction and snowshoes across to Eisenhower and back to below treeline on Pierce. Many snowshoes across the ridge have broken out the trail through drifts. Even if the winds pick up or it snows overnight it should be ok to follow the trail unless there is a change in conditions.
Only Washington had a cloud on the summit. Rest of the Presidentials were in the clear. Congrats to Michelline for 15&16 W4K. Way to Go!!! Wish Gus had been with us!! |
