Parking/Access Road Notes:
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Mud
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The only crossing of any significance, about a half-mile from the trailhead, is easily rock-hopped
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Three sizable blowdowns on the Skookumchuck between 3,400 feet elevation and 3,800, with herd paths.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: A few scrambles on the Garfield Ridge Trail from the junction with the Skookumchuck up to the summit of Lafayette may be difficult for short-legged dogs. There's a small spring at 4,400 feet on the Skook; no reliable water higher than that.
Bugs
Bugs: Surprisingly not bad.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Tuckerman lost two dog tags while chasing a moose on the lower Skook. I lost a camera lens cap near the top of the Skook.

Comments
Comments: Beautiful day with nothing more than soft breezes on Franconia Ridge. The Skook was empty, as always -- if you don't want to fight crowds up to Lafayette, this is the trail for you.
