Lost and Found
Lost and Found: 4 children's tiny water paper cups with elephants, penguins, owls,... on them; found them on Jewell Trail during the descent; must have fallen out of a pack; they made me smile--thank you for the surprise whoever lost them! I took the liberty of discarding them on my commute back home

Comments
Comments: thanks to previous trail reports!!!!--really appreciated them; your reports were spot on in terms of conditions; stayed in snowshoes all day; could have swapped to light traction on the ridge but did not want to make the switch due to cold (did not want to expose hands) and snowshoes were not a hindrance, even when on a few rocky patches
hardly a breeze from Lake of the Clouds to Monroe and back, but once I started ascending Washington the wind blew me right in the face; bumped into 3 hikers who were descending, all with face masks etc, who said that the winds started shortly after Jefferson and didn't stop; about 10 people on Washington when I got there; all briefly heading to summit sign and then huddling against walls etc. to catch a break from the wind; some nice brief conversations were had
opted out of Jefferson, precisely because of the winds/temps; even with full layering, goggles,... my face got colder by the minute; I turned onto Jewell without hesitation once I reached the juncture; Jefferson will have to wait for another day
awesome views all morning--I am a happy hiker even with one less summit than planned
trails completely packed down and iced areas were a piece of cake with mountaineering snowshoes
and a special thanks to the hiker who happened to cross my path and offered to hold my gloves while I was layering up in the wind!
