Comments
Comments: I missed the bushwhack path that starts to the left right after crossing the snowmobile bridge and followed the snowmobile trail to Haystack Road. I then saw the well-packed bushwhack path entering Haystack Road as I approached the trailhead and took that on the return.

A very cold start but it warmed up nicely. Temps were -10 to 20 with clear blue sky and no wind. All the trails were well packed but I wore snowshoes car to car. In fact, everyone I saw did...yeah! The track avoids the two major crossings by staying to the left of the Little River. The official trail on the other side hadn't seen much use.

Thanks to everyone who packed out this trail...Liz on Thursday and the big group ahead of me today. There are spots where you have to duck under the trees due to the high snowpack. From just below North Twin to the summit of South Twin the packed out trail was easy to follow but I'm sure it would be tricky route finding if breaking trail...there appeared to be enough blue-blazes to follow.

It was cold up on the summit of South Twin with a steady breeze so I did not linger up there for very long. I lucked out with beautiful views of the Presidential, Bonds, Franconia Ridge, etc. I was leapfrogging a couple of women from Southern NH, a group of three [Santa's group], a couple of guys [one whom broke his snowshoes and it appears they continued on to Galehead], and the large group I mentioned earlier that had about 12 people in it.

Another great day to be out in the woods!
