Comments
Comments: We were first on the Ammo Trail this morning and it was in perfect shape from the guys that camped out last night. The return trip on same trail was less desirable up above the last crossing due to bare booters and soft snow conditions. Ice on the trail just below the Hut can be avoided by circling around to the right, which is the normal route anyway. Most of the Monroe loop is well packed except for about 50' where it drifts just below the breakout to the ridge and false summit. From the hut to Washington trail is a combination of styrofoam and icy. Ice can be avoided with little effort. A near-presi day/ near only because of the extreme cold, wind was lighter than predicted while we were on top. Thanks Bruce and Old Man for making for a great day.
