Comments
Comments: TOUGH hike. Very exhausting. Trail was unbroken above Zeta Pass and got progressively deeper. Any semblance of a trail was obliterated by deep snow and drifting. Snow was higher than the AT blazes on trees and the many spruce trees were fully covered. We kept falling into spruce traps up high. With winds picking up heavily in the afternoon, I suspect that most of our trail breaking will be covered over from drifting. It should be noted that we ran into 4 guys who summited Carter Dome from the hut via Carter-Moriah. It should also be noted that Carter Moriah between Zeta Pass and South Carter was broken out.
