Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: A dog could still get its paws wet at the first crossing or even a still open small drainage just after it, if not careful. Pepper gives this hike four paws up; both days. After a lot of low trail breaking hikes this winter, he found these trails a welcome change of pace. Yesterday he disappointed one woman who saw us coming down and thought she was going to meet Atticus (this happens a lot); and another woman who reached down to pet him until she saw the block M of the University of Michigan on his sweater and pulled her hand back. Buckeye or Spartan?

Comments
Comments: We hiked Tecumseh yesterday and again today, and it only received 2-3 new inches of powdery snow at most overnight. It drifted to 1-2' in one short section above where Sosman (the usual route people take) splits off Mt. Tecumseh. The steep section of Mt. Tecumseh that drops off the summit (which most people don't take) had been deeply drifted yesterday when we went down it, and it probably remains so, but it was fun to snowshoe down. Sosman as it headed for the ski area had a couple of longer sections that drifted but we only went to the viewpoints. It was an easy snowshoe up as my Evo Ascents bit nicely through the powder, and it was a fun snowshoe down in the still powdery though packed trail. We met one couple coming down, they were also in snowshoes. Today was even better than yesterday: warmer, views and sun late. We were up and down before the strong winds hit late in the morning, however, so I expect the ridges will be drifted tomorrow.
