Today was a makeup hike to bag Eisenhower after getting turned around on Feb 1 at Pierce because of high winds and low temperatures. The forecast for today held true with temps around 0 and winds around 10mph. The only exception was the cone on Eisenhower where I measured a wind speed of 30. The well used trail up to Pierce was packed and made for easy travel Between Pierce and Eisenhower the trail was still visible in sections from the folks that hiked on Wednesday but had lots of drifted sections to plow through. My tracks had already started to drift over on my way back from Eisenhower. Passed a group of 8 on the way up who were heading to Pierce and several groups of hikers on my way down so the trail continued to get packed. Great day to get out before our next snow storm! |
