Comments
Comments: It was a February Presi Day so we took it and ran. Absolutely perfect day above tree line with little to no wind and a temp inversion which kept it pretty warm on the summits until about 3:00 when the wind picked up a bit. I was down to a tank top at one point! Conditions are very varied right now. We wore snow shoes car to car but there were many sections above treeline where there were many exposed rocks that we had to pick our way around. There was also lots and lots of powder in all the cols. Most summit cones were all hard packed crust making for easy ascents. It was one of those situations where there was really no perfect traction choice so if you don't want to constantly change then pick the lesser of the two evils and stick with it :) Valley Way was packed out, big thanks to Elizabeth, Corey and Dennis for their trail breaking efforts the day before. Crawford Path from bottom of Ike to 302 also very nicely packed out with NOT A SINGLE POST HOLE! BIG thank you to Kim for breaking this section earlier in the day and the AMC group of 20 that really packed it down well. Lots of snow between Ike and 302 (more than Pinkham or Randolph) so definitely wear those snow shoes! Thanks for a great day out Kyle!
