19 mile is well packed with some new snow. The Wildcat ridge trail up to "A" hadn't seen much traffic in awhile. Had to break it out bottom to top. The ridge between "A" and "D" had seen good snow shoe usage the day before so there is a packed base but new snow and drifting made it difficult at times to follow the trail. Decided to go down the Polecat trail(first time for me) rather than back track the ridge and exit the 19 mile trail. Not sure how long the road walk but it wasn't bad. Had two offers for rides, thanks folks, but I decided to hoof it. This one was a real workout. Guess I should have taken Old Man with saws advice and brought someone with me! Great day out. |
