Comments
Comments: The snowshoe trench had filled in with new or drifted snow. The new snow was powdery and would not pack even after snowshoe traffic. There was some backsliding on uphill sections due to no solid surface for the traction to grab. Downhill snowshoe skiing possible in some sections made the descent fast. From the cabin to the summit there was significant drifting making the route uncertain.
The only other hikers were a pair of hikers; one from Campton who broke most of the trail and the other from Guilford Vt.
Snow on Sunday and Monday will likely fill in the trench again.
