The facts: 4 to 6 inches down low increasing to 6 to 8 up high of easy to push around powder. The usual drifts in the last 1/4 mile from the bench to the summit. Trail breaking not an issue. 10 below when I started walking at 8:00 AM. If it warmed before I got to treeline I wasn't aware of it. Coupled with a steady wind straight off the Arctic Tundra up high made cold and wind the challenge. Still there were two young bucks playing in the drifts on the summit with their boards. Opinion: A bright sun shining on unpacked powder is a beautiful thing. A great day for #250! But after 10 secs on the summit I couldn't get to the Warren General Store for a hot coffee fast enough. |
